A unique combination of contemporary drama with elements of fantasy, telling the story of two thirty-year-olds from a big city, whose lives and relationship are in serious crisis. This seemingly everyday story takes on an extraordinary character thanks to the humorous approach and epic realism, which give the narrative a unique tone. The main characters, struggling with the problems and tensions typical of modern city life, unexpectedly face a challenge that turns their world upside down. In this unusual situation, one of the key roles is played by the figure of Adam Mickiewicz, transformed into a vampire, which gives the play an exceptionally surreal dimension. A surprising plot twist with the participation of Mickiewicz, an icon of Polish literature, introduces fantastic and poetic elements, which create a unique combination with a realistic story about interpersonal relationships.

With hate speech influencing electoral campaigns and political discourse, it is crucial to examine its impact on democratic processes. How do we differentiate between free speech and hate that undermines democratic principles? What responsibilities do political actors, the media, and citizens hold in this context? This workshop, organized by EDYN (European Democratic Youth Network), will offer a platform for an in-depth discussion on these issues. JAH is an acoustic jazz trio, formed in 2014. The band, in their work, uses elements of swing music, groove and broad improvisation. In addition, the musical material presented at concerts is diverse, rich in space and colour. They perform the leader's own compositions and their own interpretations of jazz standards. The trio has performed on one stage in front of artists such as: Ewa Uryga & New York Collective, Wojciech Karolak, Marek Soskin, Stanisław Soyka and others. The band consists of musicians from Warsaw and the Tricity. The band recorded their debut album in December 2019, which was released in late 2020.

What is the role of film art in shaping the image of the present. Does cinema only have the power to reproduce images and as such remain secondary to the world around us? The dramatic political circumstances of the current wave of EU enlargement are dictated by Putin's Russia's aggression against Ukraine and the ongoing war in Ukraine. These circumstances have significant consequences for the current EU enlargement process, primarily in terms of the planned pace and change in its formula – the intention to give this process a "gradual" character, i.e. the intention to include countries aspiring to membership in EU policies to the maximum extent possible, along with the progress made in adapting to EU standards. However, a number of experiences from the period of the "large" enlargement may be of significant importance for countries currently aspiring to membership. As for Poland's experiences, they may be of particular importance for Ukraine. Ukraine is – like Poland at the time – the country with the greatest demographic potential in the current group of countries applying for membership.

Decisions to change expedition plans, withdrawal despite the proximity of the summit, fighting the elements of weather or, finally, unforeseen events that define the course of the entire preparations - these are just a few of the selected examples of lessons learned in the mountains. Michał Leksiński, traveler and creator of the charity project of the crown of the earth "7 Happy Summits" will take you to the world of high mountains, but this time we will follow unconventional paths. Michał will present you with situations of radical turns of action both during expeditions and during their preparation, which changed the course of planned events. He will talk about the approach to adaptation and change management (using the example of the expedition to Antarctica or Denali in Alaska). He will also talk about preparations for the expedition to Everest in 2025.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has been a point of reckoning for many European states and a realization of the existence of the Kremlin’s imperialism. Since then the West has been trying to mitigate the risk caused to Europe’s security architecture: mainly by aiding Ukraine in its fight against invaders. At the same time, the debate was opened about the state of our own preparedness: a need for restocking ammunition, training more troops, and shaping civilian posture. With PM Tusk's words of the pre-war times Europe is living through, the realization comes that the current war in Ukraine may be not the last Putin's attack on European allies and their values. For over 2 years Poland has been under Russian and Belarusian hybrid attacks. Similar activities along with disinformation campaigns are omnipresent in the European states. At the same time, we've seen the rise of more kinetic activities: alleged acts of arson, espionage, and sabotage.

According to all studies, we feel increasingly lonely. More than half of us already suffer from loneliness, and one third have no one to turn to in need. Loneliness, called a modern epidemic or a disease of civilization, affects not only the oldest people, but also the youngest. It particularly affects discriminated and marginalized groups, including victims of politically motivated hatred. It turns out that technology and thousands of virtual friends do not solve the problem, and often only intensify it. What can we do to learn to build satisfying relationships and how can we help others combat the feeling of loneliness?

Disinformation negatively affects electoral processes and everyday life. We have witnessed its impact on voters in Great Britain, the United States, Brazil, and Slovakia. Russia's aggression against Ukraine also had an impact on the information sphere in Poland. The response to these challenges is critical thinking and the ability to verify information. During the workshops, we will discuss selected issues related to ways of recognizing fake news and other types of disinformation, but above all, fact-checking politicians' statements. The training will be conducted by an experienced trainer from the Demagog Association, the first fact-checking organization in Poland. The classes are a chance to gain knowledge in the field of content verification and counteracting disinformation and a good opportunity to understand the context of the functioning of the fact-checking organization in Poland, and the need to rely on facts in order to make informed decisions.

There is a lot of talk about boundaries and not crossing them, but little about where they come from and what they say. What I am and want to be, and therefore what I want my boundaries to look like. We will talk about what questions to ask ourselves about boundaries, why taking care of your own boundaries is important, not only in the context of violent situations, but also in relationships with other people. We will discuss communication models, consider the differences between assertive and aggressive and submissive attitudes. We will work on specific situations to best see the differences and know how we can introduce communication models into everyday life.

The other side of gender inequalities: boys’ and men’s disadvantages in Europe

Over 50% of young women in Poland have a tertiary degree, compared with only 31% of young men. Less than half as many male as female Polish students participate in Erasmus+. According to UNESCO, “for all the countries where girls’ education must be the top priority, there are others where boys’ needs should be those on the agenda in policy debates.” Polish men die 8 years earlier than women. Even so, they can retire only 5 years later. These gender gaps are rarely reflected in gender equality policies or electoral programmes and campaigns. However, they have a transformative impact on political competition, particularly in the youngest generations. In the workshop, we will see how these gender gaps vary across countries and how they are (not) reflected in public policies. We will discuss their causes and consequences, and try to come up with policy proposals to tackle them.

Inspired by the poetry of T. S. Eliot, the traveling street performance shows a day in the life of a modern everyman. In an effective visual-choreographic form, with a grotesque wink, it painfully exposes the traps of the modern world, in which we allow ourselves to be caught en masse, thoughtlessly losing the fingerprints of our souls. Nearly 80% of culture is organized and financed in local governments. For many cities and regions, culture is a significant driver of development, and public and non-public institutions are important employers. As of December 31, 2023, 87.2 thousand people worked in cultural institutions, of which 12.6% in state institutions and 87.4% in local government institutions. The institutions surveyed were dominated by entities with a small number of employees, less than 10 people, which constituted 58.4% of the total number of entities. As in previous years, the largest number of people worked in cultural institutions conducting creative activities related to culture and entertainment (55.6% of the total number of employees). How to strengthen participation in culture at the local level? How to support the development of accessible culture, while strengthening the potential for the development of tourism and promotion? Our experts will answer these questions.

Hundreds of millions of photos and videos are posted online every day. Among them are content involving children. The consequences can be very painful - they can be a breeding ground for hate, cyberbullying, the creation of mocking memes, harmful deepfakes, digital identity theft, e.g. to conduct false fundraisers for a "sick" child. In drastic cases, they can even feed forums popular with people with paedophile tendencies. Sometimes, such materials clearly violate a child's dignity or relationships with adults. A lot of content involving children is published in an excessive, thoughtless way, sometimes unnecessarily or without respect for their opinion.

One of the most important demands of the new ruling coalition was the promise to settle accounts with the frauds of the United Right. Not on the basis of revenge, but in the spirit of respect for the law and showing that everyone is equal before it. For this purpose, three investigative committees have been established, which have completed or are completing their work. Together we will consider whether investigative committees are sufficient means to show and stigmatize the bad practices of the previous government. Together we will show how to build an honest state and protect it from abuses and nepotistic ambitions of the government. So that situations such as wasted millions on envelope elections, illegal surveillance of the opposition or uncontrolled migration never happen again in Poland.

We will focus on the role of the green transition, infrastructure projects, affordable housing, European integration and the defence industry, in securing prosperity, stability and security in the medium to long term. The panel will constitute a microcosm of the 2025 LSE Polish Economic Forum and will feature 3-4 prominent speakers. The main panel will last 40 minutes, after which we expect a 15-minute Q&A session and a brief 5-minute presentation about the work of the LSE Polish Business Society.

The panel 'Hate Speech and Instrumentalisation of Minorities: Analysis of Electoral Dynamics in Poland' will be an in-depth analysis of the role of hate discourse and the political use of national, ethnic, LGBT+ and religious minority issues in the context of recent local, parliamentary and European elections. The discussion will focus on how these phenomena have deepened social divisions and increased polarisation, and what long-term consequences they have for the functioning of democracy in Poland and social cohesion. During the panel, we will reflect on the mechanisms that could counteract these negative trends, aiming to find solutions that support integration and social dialogue. The panel will also provide an opportunity to reflect on how hate speech affects the daily lives of minorities and what challenges society faces in the face of the rise of such phenomena in the public space.
